The Fire Baptism of Jesus Christ!

I have witnessed over most of my adult life a high level of antagonism, fear, and confusion on what it means to be “baptized” in the Holy Spirit.

What I will refer to as the "fire" baptism of Jesus Christ. The term "fire baptism" flows directly off the lips of no less a prophet than the forerunner -- John the Baptist. At the point when he introduced the Savior of the Jews to the world (John 1).

A term that ultimately signifies the life changing reality of what happens when a man, woman, or child calls upon the Name of the Yah and is immersed in the life changing heavenly fire of the Holy Spirit's power.

In this writing I hope to reshape, in biblical fashion, the experience that was intended to be normative for all those who call upon the Name of the Lord.

Dear people of God, the “fire baptism” experience authored by the Holy Spirit, was given for the primary purpose to empower and embolden our witness of the real bodily resurrection of Yahshua / Jesus from Joseph's tomb. This Fire Baptism is distinguished from all other baptisms by the obvious fruit it produces in the life of fire immersed person.

No believer in the bodily resurrection of Yahshua was intended to step into the born again experience filled with wave after wave of spiritual battles against unseen enemies without receiving the outpouring of Heaven’s Fire from the Throne of Christ to enable us to fight these forces back to the gates of hell.

For every man, woman, and child who calls upon the Name of Yah major deliverance's from evil forces within and without must be overcome. Generations of idolatry fill our bloodlines and these sins must be openly confessed to break us free from these intrepid and insidious forces and then the fire baptism emboldens us witness of this heavenly power without fear of consequence.

Do we remember the greatest sins of Israel? It was the worship of the idols of the nations. Do you remember the price they paid for their idolatry? Complete and utter destruction of the temple and the loss of everything they had.

We could honestly surmise from a surface reading of Acts 1 that not having this outpouring meant the Church would not rise out of an ignominious nonexistence. Their small tribe of believers would never have flipped the world upside down was we see in the pages of human history. We should teach and train new believers in Yahshua’s blood that they should not leave home without this heavenly gift!

What was, and is, to be an absolutely necessary part of the enlargement of our understanding of the person and work of Yahshua, Jesus Christ. The outpoured Holy Spirit shows us primarily the beauty of Yahshua. Also it grants us a firmer grasp on heavenly things, and should be sought and desired as an essential part of preserving to the end.

This baptism of fire initiates a brand new spiritual love connection to the Father through the Spirit. The work comes directly from the Right Hand of His Throne only for our good. We must see it more as a romantic connection to Christ in heaven than the manifestation of speaking in new tongues.

"I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and
fire." Mt. 3:11

So a probing question remains for the modern day American church, "How can we expect to "do" Yahshua with signs and wonders without being immersed in Yahshua!”

We use the term “fire” because the scriptures use this word and it aptly reveals the nature of our baptism into Christ.  The image of fire is clearly read in the account of Pentecost when the 120 who received the Holy Spirit in the mighty rushing wind had cloven tongues of fire over their heads. So then, fire is the immersion medium of all who come into the faith rights of the new birth.

We observe quite evidently during the early days of Moses, Sinai, and Israel's wildness journey to the Promised Land that Yah choose to present His presence as a pillar of fire at night. As we grope through the darkness of our times we need the light and power of His fire to envelope us and guide us to His desired haven as our forefathers experienced through their wilderness wanderings.

The Holy Spirit is the essential entity of this baptism of fire Our Lord Jesus referred to the Gospel record. Since the Holy Spirit is our only connection to the Father. The Holy Spirit is deemed by Our Lord as our Teacher referred to in the gospel of John Chapter 16 where Yahshua said to His disciples:

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew [it] unto you.”

The Word of God states that holy cloves of fire hovered over the heads of ALL of those 120 needy, very scared lovers of their friend Yahshua, believers in His crazy resurrection story. This heavenly fire came to every one of those who sat and prayed together in one accord, as they tarried in an upper room (Cataluma) in Jerusalem. These needy followers of a defamed Messiah were commanded not to leave this space until the heavenly fire was poured out on them approximately 8 days after the mysterious departure of Yahshua.

Before His ascension to His rightful place in Glory, Yahshua commanded the faithful few to stay in Jerusalem until power was endued from on High. They did not need more teaching of men, no more pep talks about hanging in there, NO a thousand times NO, these early jewish believers needed something outside of themselves, something heavenly, something beautiful.

This incredible spiritual activity occurred while the world of men argued over the reasons why this miracle worker and Jewish Messiah-like person was to be executed by the Romans. Pagans and false religionists oversaw Our Lord's death. The religious and unbelieving Jews turned their Lord over to the world authorities operating under Satan's tryannical grip. In doing so the world of darkness looked like the winners in this epic battle for the souls of men.

This very same radical Messiah-like Deliverer, now reportedly has been seen by five hundred people alive from the dead; reports aflame that He was still interacting with the sons of men on the earth through some medium... what in the world is going on here?

Yes, indeed, 120 believers in His radical message of the Kingdom of Heaven invading earth through a message attended by signs and wonders represented Yah’s immense Power from the throne room of God. This power would eventually enable the least of them to perform great signs and wonders.

This heavenly power enabled them to hear the voice of the Spirit and go to certain places to show off heaven’s rightful power. This baptism and Holy Spirit immersion yielded wisdom from above for all those who also received this immersion in His fire. How do you build a kingdom without a king? The King is Yahshua, and his work built, with faulty humans, what men cannot deny is the greatest message ever told. The message has stayed intact for 2000 years making possible our perfect unity if we would simply let Him speak to us.

These 120 believers who were formerly petrified of going public, but after this heavenly fire baptism experience, march with boldness into the streets proclaiming the the bodily resurrection of Yahshua.

What would they have done without the fire immersion of the Holy Spirit? I dare say they would not have been willing to take the message to the streets of Jerusalem or Judea or Samaria, or the world!

Yes they too experience what was prophesied and foreshadowed in John 1:15-17 by none other than John the Baptist.

"This is He of whom I said, "He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me. For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ..."

reading on in verse 33:

"And I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, "he upon whom you see the Spirit decscending and remaining upon Him, "this is the one who baptizes in the Holy Spirit."

Yet many questions are left unanswered today in our ultra-divided American Church:

Was the “Promise of the Holy Spirit” fulfilled only for those who happened to be in Jerusalem at Pentecost?

Or is the “Promise of the Holy Spirit” a natural heavenly outpouring of the Holy Spirit for those who call upon the Name of Jesus Christ for salvation?

Does this baptism represent a second blessing of grace?

What conditions are necessary for a person to receive the baptism of fire?

Does water baptism accompany this operation of the Holy Spirit?

What is the main spiritual work performed on man in the refining work of the “fire baptism” of Jesus Christ?

Is there a difference between what the early christians experienced with the infilling of the Holy Spirit or “fire baptism” then what modern believers receive from the heaven’s throne today?

Is Christ’s commandment to his disciples to preach His Gospel to the nations intimately bound to this outpouring of the Holy Spirit we are calling the “fire baptism” of Jesus Christ – Yahshua?

Could our misunderstanding of the work and operation of the Holy Spirit explain why we believers in Christ’s resurrection have such a weak in our witness in our America?

What is Satan’s strategy in perverting the fire baptism experience in the Church? And even causing what was supposed to be a very normal experience at the point of  conversion into a point of argument in the body of Christ?

Many questions beyond these still remain and challenge us all to reevaluate what it means to be baptized in the “fire” of Jesus Christ. In the days to come we want to answer these serious and life changing questions from the scriptures!
