What Holds for the future

A Pauline Striving for Perfection!

January 24, 2010

The apostle Paul made his life and the focal point of his earthly ministry the presentation every true believer as “perfect” in Christ.  How do we take this admonition to heart today?  How do we then release ourselves to accomplish this very flesh withering task?

We have seen from scripture that the call to be  “perfect” is to be a highly sought after goal and consistently demanded by our forefathers of the faith.  Paul make the clear assertion of this seemly impossible task in his epistle to the Colossians, Col.1:28-29, in which, the apostle Paul asserts, “Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. To this [end] I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.”

In my whole life I have not seen with my own eyes this kind of vigorous action to strive and labor as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ so as to present every man or woman of God – perfect in Christ!  Have you?  If this hard to find, why is it so scarce?  Why have we set the bar so low for the men of God who lead our churches?  How about for you as a christian?  Where have you and I set our goal to be “perfect” in Christ?

In order to come back to the ancient landmarks of a holy manner of life as the standard for a Bible-believing christian, we must wrap our minds around the biblical mandate of what we are called to “be” in Christ.  All of our work for Christ is wrought by grace.  Notice Paul words, “His working which works in me mightily.”

So how do we get to the place where Christ works in us mightily?  To answer this question we must go back to where we have started in our decision to take up our cross and follow Jesus Christ.

Jesus, Peter, John, Paul, along with all the succeeding ministries of our faithful church forefathers have held to a high view of a holy life.  As Peter said in his epistle, I Pet. 1:17 “Be holy as I AM holy”

Spirit-led men of God have always called for a self-denying discipleship of Christ Jesus where all of Christ's sheep are called to take up “their cross” and follow Him through the way, their way, that He has deemed most perfectly designed to make us like Him. As we walk in pursuit of His Glorious kingdom mandate, He, the risen Christ, knows how each of us, His People, are most impacted in our struggles circumstances.  For some it is relational devastation, others financial setback and struggle, others it is the weakening of their bodies, yet others it is their often struggle with a certain besetting sin.

Since there is no other name given unto men whereby men can be saved.  And that name is of the righteousness One, Jesus Christ, as Lord for all those who call upon His Name; will sovereignly knit our hearts into oneness with His Glorious heart.  How can we earnestly seek Jesus, and not be filled with Jesus?

We are called into the fullness of His Knowledge. Eph 4:13, “till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ...”

His Word reveals the necessity of a complete and perfect sacrifice of our “life” to obtain eternal life.  Paul was confronted with this truth from “day one” of his call from the right hand of the Father, he saw no other way to speak about the newly discovered Christ, who was the Jesus he was persecuting.  After this drastic and powerful encounter, Paul lived and set forth a doctrine, that was bearing on all believers, to seek the L-rd in holiness of life.

The explain in greater detail is that our holiness comes out of the love relationship with Jesus Christ and His law.  In other words if He wrote it can't be bad!  Our of reverence and awe we offer up our time, our mind and life, and our bodies in service to this great and Holy King.

Did they all of his hearer get the point?  No, of course not.  Do we get the point?  That's why his letters were written mostly to correct the disobedient and to encourage those who were losing their edge in the war against the world, the flesh, and the devil.

So we too must continue, in patience and love, to correct the erring and the wavering souls who think that being christian is “moment” in time.  Those who mistakingly think this is something reserved for an alter at a church building.   In supporting the new converts and the weak, we are fulfilling the work that Jesus Himself performed while He was on the earth.  By our work of encouraging the distressed and despondent, we enter our refinement and purification process, I can not perceive of any process of sanctification that doesn't include the lessons learned in bearing with the weak.

Perfection in this life is not sinlessness.  Maturity in Christ is not sinless perfection.  No! We are to align ourselves with the perfect will of G-d by every day becoming a “living sacrifice”, as we continuously lay down on the alter of G-d's service.  Heb.2:10, “For it was fitting for Him, for whom [are] all things and by whom [are] all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.”

God's alter is for all those who consider themselves sons of the kingdom.  The word of God declares, we are a “kingdom of priests.” Rev.1:6  As priests we must be consecrated according to the mandate of I Pet.2:5, “you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”

If we, the redeemed of the Lord, do not understand our role as priests, then how can we offer up the proper praise and thanksgiving required of our G-d?  Ps. 100:4, “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise.  Give thanks to Him; bless His name.”

As priests, developing in our understanding of our function before the throne of G-d, we are now beginning to understand the nature of our G-d, His holiness, His incredible mercy.  By gaining more glimpses of His boundless love, Awesome Power, and the certainty of His dominion over all of His creation we are gaining the knowledge of the deeper things that are enabling us to be more edified in our worship times.

Our developing perfections are bound up in our position and calling in the Lord.  When the writer to the Hebrews calls the believers living in Jerusalem to perfection (Heb. 6:1) what is the primary motivation?   In Heb.6:4-5, the writers calls the Hebrews  -- enlighted ones, tasters of the heavenly gift, partakers of the Holy Spirit, those who have tasted the good word of God, and those that have seen the powers of the age to come.

So then in our understanding of this process of perfection (not sinless perfection) we must draw a conclusion.  Is it even possible for a truly heaven-born believer to fall away from God?  If grace is the operative source of all this work in us, is it even possible for believers who have seen heaven opened, the glories of the world to come, and to have seen the impending fire of God's judgment, to walk away from Christ?  Can true believer be lukewarm?  Can a man or woman of God turn back to the world?  Do true born again believers strive for perfection?

The questions posed here have caused much division in the body of Christ.  I don't want to inspire more division by asking these questions, I just want the questions to inspire a journey within you and me, as we all together seek the L-rd's pleasure in finding our way in Him, and in our collective hearts within the body of Christ, allow the Spirit of Christ to refine our thinking and our understanding.

If grace inspires our holiness and our striving unto perfection in our walk before Him, could any of us actually stay “stuck” in a world of unbelief?  Could and should we linger and gaze at Sodom while she burns?  If we are truly set free from a certain death, how can we not respond favorably to the arm of salvation lifting us from a very real dark death?  We will become the lights to this very dark in this very dark time.

Just come to Jesus as you are!  Perfection on this side of heaven comes by laying on His alter of service.  Losing your life to save it!  And with much enthusiasm enter a life and walk in newness of His resurrection.  We must then lift our eyes to the hills from whence comes our help.  We must then trust exclusively in God's power, not our own.  We will have to lay aside our pride and our love of self.  We will “forsake all” and any trust in man and in the things “of” man.  We must and will look past the alluring temptations that incite us to live for the moment.  We shall humble ourselves daily by asking our Lord, “what do you want me to do for You today?”

A sacrificed life is the life a “maturing” believer.  We and they must put aside all malice and ill will.  We call men to repent out of the simple expression of our devotion to Christ!  By walking in the Spirit, we do not fulfill the lust of the flesh.  We keep our eyes fixed on Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith!   Heb. 12:1-2

I leave you with the words of Jesus, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."

Many blessings,

Jonathan

Your Day of Adversity - In this we unite

January 24, 2010

I believe that “adversity” and trouble are G-d's remedy for a sin sick soul.  Adversity trains us in righteousness.  Adversity is G-d's weapon to chasten the natural man still trying to wrest control of our spiritually fervent walk with His Son.  Adversity makes us look up and moves us to cry out to heaven for guidance.  Obedience to G-d's adversity, illuminates His light within us so we shine brighter and brighter.   Without adversity we will not become the soldiers that we must be in or...

And David said to his son Solomon, "Be strong and of good courage, and do [it]; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the L-RD God--my G-d--[will be] with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the L-RD.

Do you believe that you are called to reach people for Christ?  Do you hurt inside for people who you know are lost and without hope?  Are you tired of watching your friends fall prey to the lies of the enemy?  Do you want t...

Adversity - Are You Ready?

January 24, 2010

In Psalm 91:14-16 we have a beautiful account of God's faithfulness to protect a saint and lover of His Being that has made the Lord of Heaven is love and refuge.  The Lord, even at the latest hour is able to save those who have put their trust in Him.  Let's read the words of these verses with great care, “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My Name.  He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him...

Real Change!

January 23, 2010

We have come to a time and a place in human history where the word “change” has  been high-jacked by the weakest of men and the most tired of institutions, so much so, that the word “change” means everything and anything but does not inspire true and real change we need at this time.  Offering “change” doesn't always mean a turn toward the improvement of our quality of life, though portrayed as such, and yet, never delivering the promised lasting impact it first offered us.

Suffering as a Christian

January 23, 2010

Today I would like to draw a clear distinction between suffering for Christ and suffering as a sinful human.  To suffer as a christian, is to suffer in the way of the cross, as you faithfully follow Christ's leading in your life.

All true believers who have taken up their cross and followed the Savior of their souls, will be led into the valley of the shadow of death. From the perspective of the Word, the Father desires for all of His children is for them to imitate Our Lord by walking with...

Into Your Hands

Soul piercing agony.  Flesh withering sorrow of heart.  Gut wrenching desertion of close friends.  Horribly brutal physical torture.  Foes spitting shamelessly in your face.  Mocking and rueing of fellow and natively sinful mortals.

This scorn was measured by the disrespectful tearing of clumps of hair from your once glorious beard.  Seeking to take your natural and glorious created body and holy head, to then, tear away at the face of love.  Loneliness.  False accusations.   Death sentenc...

The Modern Day Prophet

January 12, 2010

As a man who has been labeled a prophet by some and a radical preacher by others and delusional false prophet by many, I have been for quite some time desiring to explain what I believe to be the nature and function of “the modern day prophet”.  Many men and women of G-d who are calling G-d's people to repent and turn back to the ancient paths of the revealed word of G-d; the truth found in the holy word of G-d.  All these call attention to the ancient landmarks of our apostolic forefathe...

The Amazing Christ Message

January 7, 2010

Lest we ever forget, the power of any ministry is the glorious touch of Jesus Christ!  His amazing message animates all true gospel work wrought by His grace.  If we try to build our ministries on any other foundation but that which has already been laid by Christ and His apostolic leaders, then our work will not meet with true success and our preaching and our discipling of His sheep will not be touched by His power, to see real positive change in the shipwrecked lives that surround all of u...

Kingdom Support Services

Jonathan Keener - Overseer Our call is to be true "christ" ians. Those little christ's who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. Who spread God's fame by proclaiming His message of reconciliation to our world. Playing our part in the epic work of the regathering of the Body of Christ in the Last Days. livinlattes@gmail.com

Where are the prophets?

The calling on my life is to walk in a path similar to those called as messengers of God's revelation to their generation. This would in no way conflict with the work of prophets who wrote the scriptures. The work of the modern day prophet brings his audience back to the written Word.

This job or assignment is not typically for the pulpit, many times this call leads men and women to connect one on one with pastors, business leaders, divinely selected individuals, and in public forums which the Lord opens to proclaim His message of Reconciliation

The Path of Restoration of the Bride of Jesus Christ

  • Intercessory Prayer of agreement by two or three like-minded believers in a geographical location.
  • Through prayer and inquiry of the Holy Spirit begin to establish clear strategic individual prayer targets at the local level of government and community life.
  • Seek for opportunities to publicly Re-preach the full gospel according to manner that John the Baptist performed to prepare the Way of Our Jesus Christ, calling men everywhere to repent.
  • As the Lord's apostles did in obedience to the Great Commission we publicly declare His historical resurrection demonstrating power of death, we believe that the gift of the Holy Spirit will manifest so as to prepare our hearts to receive His soon coming earthly kingdom.
  • Restore the role of what it means to be an "ambassadors" of the ministry of reconciliation. Understanding that we, mere mortals, stand between heaven and earth to call men to a peace treaty with heaven to restore peace with their Maker and Judge.
  • Walking as Our Lord walked to raise up true life-giving disciples, followers of Our Lord's words and ways making a clean break from the world and any false loyalty to man-made ecclesiastical Nicolatian  religious orders.
  • To inspire unity in the Body of Christ around the essentials of the historic faith bequeathed to us from our forefathers. In His way, and in His time, that the world may see that we are one as our Father and His Son are One.
  • Build a team of diverse God the Father ordained leaders that fit the Biblical model of those called to be ambassadors of Christ, a group called to raise up leaders who hear the Voice of Spirit. A true five fold group of leaders.
  • To continue to expand the Kingdom of Christ by loving sinners enough to go evangelistically where they hang out and meet them in their ditches in the love of Our Savior.
  • Equip the saints by praying over them and speaking prophetically into their lives. Give them Spiritual guidance.
  • To encourage the Body of Christ to work together, using all their spiritual gifts, and so we can foster positive change in any community where we have been strategically placed by the Lord.
  • Gather the elders, those the Father is calling out to be the next generation shepherds of His Flock, the David's, not the Saul's of the past, men and women who have sold all to follow the Lamb.
  • Gather called out elect  Jews, Gentiles, and Muslims that make up the remnant of God, a diverse and unique gathering of saints from every tongue and nation.
  • Build a community (places of refuge) in targeted and strategic areas that include access to natural resources where training in skills, working with your hands, basic functional education, restore the man and his soul, train in leadership by example - mentoring rising generation.
  • Sponsor trips to Israel to establish our understanding of Our unified place in the Land and with all of His People scattered abroad.
  • Get involved in all work and in all facets of life.
  • Reestablish the family to the rising generation so the newly converted can visibly  "see" and "feel" firsthand the love of husband and wives and the brethren manifested in real and tangible ways.
  • Raise up next generation teams of Holy Spirit trained and prepared ambassadors of His peace who are sent out to the ends of the earth to Spirit-led places on the face of the earth.
  • Build a network of home gatherings and in "other" intimate settings for the purpose of training and equipping the "saints" and where we openly display Christian hospitality and where we share material things.
  • Sending out Gospel workers who establish churches (ekklesias) that are biblically-governed and prepared to be houses of agape love and purity and in whom the power of heaven dwells.
